It's not common for Kannada movies to enter theatres with their business already set after they come out. A movie's deals for satellite and digital distribution usually depend a lot on how well it does in theatres. That's why Rakkasapuradhol, which came out in theatres on February 6, is such a big deal.
The movie, which starred Raj B. Shetty and was directed by first-time filmmaker Ravi Saranga, came to theatres with its satellite and OTT rights already secured. This gave the filmmakers a big head start even before the audience saw it.
The Zee Network has bought the satellite and digital rights to Rakkasapuradhol. After it plays in theatres, the movie will be available to stream on Zee5. The official streaming date hasn't been set yet, but based on what we've seen in the past, the movie will probably be available to stream online about a month after it comes out in theatres, maybe around March 6 or 7.
Rakkasapuradhol is the first movie that well-known stuntman Ravi Verma has worked on. Director Ravi Saranga is in the spotlight after working with famous filmmaker Prem for many years. Arjun Janya wrote the music for the movie. He just directed his first movie, 45, which is also a Raj B Shetty movie that is now streaming on Zee5.
Archana Kottige, Swathishta Krishnan, B Suresh, Jahangir, Siddanna, Gaurav Shetty, Anirudh Bhat, and others play important roles in the cast. Raj B. Shetty's first role as a police officer is one of the most talked-about parts of the movie. He plays SI Shiva, a police officer who has to look into a string of strange murders in the otherwise peaceful village of Rakkasapura.
The villagers are scared because they think a supernatural being called Kolli Devva is to blame. Shiva, on the other hand, is looking for a logical reason. This crime thriller, which mixes mystery, folklore, and investigative drama, is all about whether the truth is logical or something much worse.
