Abhishek Nama’s upcoming mythological action drama Nagabandham, headlined by Virat Karrna, is gearing up for a massive Pan-India release slated for this summer. With the teaser scheduled to be unveiled on the 15th of this month to coincide with the auspicious festival of Maha Shivaratri, the makers have now offered audiences a glimpse of another pivotal character from the film’s epic storyline.
Actor Rishabh Sawhney, who previously impressed audiences with his performance in Fighter, will take on the role of the infamous Afghan ruler Sultan Abdali in Nagabandham. Set in 1750, the story follows Abdali’s invasion of India, detailing his brutal campaigns filled with temple looting and an endless thirst for wealth.
The recently released first-look poster features a striking image. Against a snow-covered battlefield caught in a fierce storm, Rishabh charges forward, wielding a massive, blood-soaked battle axe. A strong army follows him, with green war flags cutting through the icy winds.
This group includes archers, fierce warriors, and towering war elephants, creating an intense and thrilling war scene. Adding to the dark atmosphere, a pack of wolves with glowing eyes circles around him, increasing the feeling of danger and impending destruction.
In Nagabandham, Abdali is shown as a cruel and power-hungry individual, willing to sacrifice countless lives—including Brahmins and children—to find the legendary Naga Bandham thought to be hidden in the Himalayas. The character embodies a dark and formidable presence, reflecting historical accounts of his cruelty.
Director Abhishek Nama praised Rishabh Sawhney’s transformation for the role, noting that the actor’s performance is so immersive it feels like Abdali has come to life on screen. “Rishabh has transformed into this complex character, bringing depth and intensity to the role,” he said.
Produced by Kishore Annapureddy and Nishitha Nagireddy, Nagabandham is in the final production stages and is nearing completion.

Sharing his thoughts on portraying the character, Rishabh said, “I am honored to portray a character as challenging as Abdali. I aimed to reflect the complexities and motives of this historical figure while remaining true to the story's essence.”
The film also stars Nabha Natesh and Iswarya Menon as the female leads, while veteran actors Jagapathi Babu, Jayaprakash, Murali Sharma, and BS Avinash play key roles, adding further weight and depth to the narrative.
