Twinkle Khanna and Kajol have finally addressed the criticism directed at their talk show Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle, providing an honest account of the incidents that caused controversy.

The pair acknowledged that some parts were misinterpreted and stated that the controversy might have been avoided with a straightforward disclaimer from the beginning.

Their comments came in a recently released bonus episode, featuring cricketers Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma.

Filmed after the original episodes had started streaming, the episode was meant to give viewers insight into the playful intent behind some of the show’s more provocative discussions.

Both hosts took the opportunity to explain that their aim was never to offend, but to entertain and tease lightly.

Kajol addressed a particularly contentious segment, saying, "Now it’s time for our next segment, which has gotten us into a lot of trouble."

She made it clear that the point of the segment was to be light-hearted, adding, "opinions don’t matter as much as lighthearted teasing."

Twinkle also emphasised the role of disclaimers, noting, "And there’s a disclaimer which we should have had from the first episode, that nothing we say in this segment should be taken seriously. Please don’t follow any of our advice in this segment."

The controversy mostly revolved around earlier episodes. In one, Karan Johar and Janhvi Kapoor joined the hosts to discuss infidelity. Karan had said, "Physical infidelity is not a dealbreaker," to which Janhvi responded, "No, the deal is broken."

Twinkle then added, "We’re in our 50s, she’s in her 20s, and she will get into this circle soon. She hasn’t seen the things we have seen. Raat gayi baat gayi (What’s happened, has happened)."

Another segment sparked discussion about unconventional views on marriage. Kajol shared her thoughts, saying, "Marriage should have an expiry date and a renewal option." She explained, "I definitely think so. Who said you would get married to the right person at the right time? So, you should have a renewal option. And if there’s an expiry date, then we don’t have to suffer for too long."

Until this bonus episode, Twinkle and Kajol had largely stayed silent about the audience reactions and critiques.
