Sarod maestros Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash have been named WWF-India's Goodwill Ambassadors. This comes after their captivating on-stage partnership with British pop star Yungblud at Lollapalooza India, their acclaimed collaboration on Gorillaz's ninth studio album ‘The Mountain,’ and their Grammy-winning work on ‘Meditations: The Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.’

The duo commemorates this significant connection by announcing the global release of their most recent album, ‘Celebrating Our Tigers,’ a stirring seven-track musical tribute to India's famous wild tiger population and the environments they call home.

Celebrating Our Tigers, a collaboration with WWF-India, one of the nation's leading conservation groups established in 1969, demonstrates a shared dedication to environmental care.

The youthful classical music brother-duo, who are internationally renowned musicians and the sons of the renowned Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, continue to use their talent as a platform to highlight India's rich natural heritage and show how music can inspire meaningful action and transcend national boundaries.

Amaan Ali Bangash talked about the milestone and said, “Through Celebrating Our Tigers, we wanted to create more than just music. We aimed to craft an immersive experience that echoes the raw beauty and majesty of India’s wilderness. Every note is a tribute to the resilience of these magnificent creatures and to the tireless efforts of those who protect them. We hope this album deepens listeners’ connection with nature and inspires a renewed commitment to preserving our planet’s biodiversity.”

Ayaan Ali Bangash added, “This project has been an incredibly moving journey, allowing us to explore the sonic landscapes of India’s tiger reserves. Collaborating with WWF-India and witnessing conservation successes firsthand has been deeply inspiring. Music has the power to communicate emotion and stories beyond words, and with ‘Celebrating Our Tigers’, we invite listeners to celebrate this conservation triumph and reflect on our shared responsibility to protect these iconic animals for generations to come.”

The CD traces locations essential to tiger conservation, taking listeners on a fascinating aural trip through India's vast nature. The compositions eloquently convey the essence of the wild, from the ancient forests of Jim Corbett National Park, India's first national park, to the famous landscapes of Bandhavgarh, which was formerly dominated by the fabled tiger Charger. Continued travel passes via the tranquil lakes and forts of Ranthambore, the mist-covered backwaters of Kabini, the ageless teak woods of Pench, which served as the model for Rudyard Kipling's "The Jungle Book," and the biodiverse region of Kaziranga along the Brahmaputra River.

Dr Sejal Worah, Programme Director, WWF-India, states, “We are delighted to welcome Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash as WWF-India Goodwill Ambassadors. Their album, ‘Celebrating Our Tigers’ beautifully blends music and nature, drawing attention to the majesty of India’s tigers and the landscapes they inhabit. Many of these landscapes face ongoing threats, and WWF-India’s work to conserve these critical ecosystems and the wildlife within them will receive an added boost through the awareness created by this album. We are grateful to the Bangash brothers for using their art to inspire a deeper connection with the natural world.”

The song Kabini, which includes Zohaan Ali Bangash and Abeer Ali Bangash, the teenage twin grandsons of Ayaan Ali Bangash and Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, is a particular highlight of the CD. The twins' own love for India's tigers and natural heritage is reflected in their participation, which represents a very personal and generational dedication to wildlife protection. The album's message of conserving India's wildlife for future generations is reinforced by this intergenerational partnership, which is a strong source of inspiration for the song "Celebrating Our Tigers."

Celebrating Our Tigers comes at a critical juncture, as the number of wild tigers in India is encouragingly increasing as a result of persistent and successful conservation efforts. In addition to the tigers themselves, the album honours the forests, conservation efforts, and groups committed to preserving India's natural heritage.

Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash wrote the original songs for "Celebrating Our Tigers," which was produced by Kabir Sehgal. Debashis Halder (sarangi), Uday Mukherjee (tabla and percussion), Subir Roy (flute), Deb Sankar Roy (violin), Bhaskar Jyoti Kalita (flute), and Uditya Lahkar (drums) are among the accompanying musicians. Sawan Dutta mixes and masters some of the tracks, while Soumen Kutty Sarkar programs the keyboard.

The album's narrative and conservation message are powerfully enhanced by the striking visual collaboration with renowned wildlife photographers Karam Srivastava (Jim Corbett), Shivang Mehta (Bandhavgarh), Kalyan Varma (Ranthambore), Vikramjit Singh Bal, and Rakesh Rana (Kaziranga). Anand Bazaar Patrika (Sundarbans), Felis Creations (Kabini), and WWF-India (Kaziranga) as well.

Celebrating Our Tigers is slated to release on February 20, 2026.
