The Ajay Devgn-starrer 'Maidaan' see a rise in collections on Sunday; the film earned Rs 3.15 crore nett with a sum of Rs 35.79 crore till now.

The strong word of mouth for Ajay Devgn starrer 'Maidaan', which is based on the true story of coach Syed Abdul Rahim and his Indian Football team, is helping the movie.

The film witnessed a rise in viewership this Sunday in theatres and families with children are also going to the theatres to draw inspiration from this remarkable true story.

Despite two IPL matches, the movie had a fantastic Sunday with a collection of Rs 3.15 crore nett, bringing the grand total to Rs 35.79 crore nett in India.

Schools, football clubs, and sports institutes such as Minerva Academy Football Club and John Abraham’s team at NorthEast United FC are bringing their students to witness Coach SA Rahim’s story of honesty, dedication, and hard work.

'Maidaan' stands out as the only family entertainer running at the theatres, promising a great run for the film at the box office.

It had a big Eid clash with 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' on April 10. Both the movies have been going slowly and steadily at the box office. There is no other big movie due to release in the month of April.

Besides Ajay Devgn, the movie also stars 'Family Man' actress Priyamani and Gajraj Rao in pivotal roles. Ajay Devgn played the role of Indian football coach Syed Abdul Rahim between 1952 and 1962. His tenure as a football coach was known as the Golden Era of Indian football.

The film in its first week had earned Rs 28 crore.
