Lady Gaga is finally talking about her character Harley Quinn from the highly anticipated film ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’.
In an interview to promote her film titled ‘Gaga Chromatica Ball’, the ‘Bad Romance’ singer spoke about her portraying Harley Quinn in a completely different way than in the comic books.
“You know my version of Harley is mine, and it’s very authentic to this movie and these characters. I’ve never done anything like I’ve done in this movie before, so it’s all going to be completely brand new and really fun,” the ‘A Star is Born’ actress told an entertainment publication.
Lady Gaga stars in ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ next to Oscar winning star Joaquin Phoenix. The sequel to the blockbuster ‘Joker’ in 2019 is directed by Todd Philips. The musical is set to hit theatres on 7 October.
‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ also stars Catherine Keener, Brendan Gleeson, and Zazie Beetz.
Lady Gaga is taking over the role from Margot Robbie who portrayed Harley Quinn in ‘Suicide Squad (2016)’ and ‘Birds of Prey (2020)’. Robbie has expressed her eagerness to see the iconic comic book character played by another actress.
“It makes me so happy because I said from the very beginning, all I want is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters, the way like Macbeth or Batman always gets passed from great actor to great actor. It’s such an honor to have built a foundation strong enough that Harley can now be one of those characters that other actors get to have a go at playing. I think she’ll do something incredible with it,” Margot Robbie told MTV news in 2022.
Lady Gaga is currently promoting her new film, ‘Gaga Chromatica Ball’, which shows the behind the scenes of a concert, down to the details of make-up, stage management, and all the other preparations that are required.
