Yesteryear actress Moushumi Chatterjee opened up about Amitabh Bachchan’s rise to stardom in a recent interview, reflecting on how success affected the iconic actor. Chatterjee and Bachchan have shared the screen in several films, including Narendra Bedi’s Benaam (1974), Manoj Kumar’s Roti Kapda Aur Makaan (1974), and Basu Chatterjee’s 1979 blockbuster Manzil. In conversation with ABP, Moushumi discussed the transformation she observed in Bachchan after he achieved superstardom.

Speaking in Bengali, Moushumi recounted Amitabh Bachchan's early struggles and hard work, which eventually led to his monumental success. However, she hinted that the changes brought by his stardom were not entirely positive.

“Amitabh Bachchan struggled a lot and became big after a lot of hard work. But I won’t say if he became big for the better. When you receive so much, you behave very differently. You won’t even be able to think about helping others. His brother Ajitabh used to arrange for a car which would pick up Bachchan from the sets. He used to be a very quiet person, sit alone, and have lunch with the hairdresser," Moushumi said.

Moushumi also had positive remarks about Bachchan's work ethic and dedication. Reflecting on their time filming Piku (2015), she told Hindustan Times how impressed she was with Bachchan’s enthusiasm and professionalism, even at the age of 72. “Even at 72, Amit is like a newcomer. If you ask him to get ready at 6 am, he will be ready. He is so punctual and disciplined," she said.
