When Rekha’s brief interaction with Amitabh Bachchan at Rishi Kapoor-Neetu Singh’s wedding brought tears to Jaya Bachchan

Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and Rekha’s relationship dynamics have been the talk of the industry. Rekha’s appearance at Neetu Singh and Rishi Kapoor’s wedding and her brief interaction with Amitabh Bachchan still create a buzz among the fans.

Rekha made a spectacular entrance while Jaya Bachchan was sitting next to the bride. Neetu Singh was friends with Rekha.

The veteran actress sported a bold red bindi on her forehead, and her much-discussed red sindoor gleamed on her forehead. She looked stunning in a white saree.

When the bride and groom gave the signal, the cameras quickly panned in Rekha's direction. Rekha went to the middle of RK Studios' garden and stood there, according to a Cine Blitz report that described what happened that evening.

The camera captured Rekha gazing at Amitabh Bachchan, who was talking to director Manmohan Desai. After some while, Rekha went up to the veteran actor and started a discussion.

While Rekha's sindoor appearance drew everyone’s attention, Jaya Bachchan's emotional response heightened the drama of the event.

According to a Stardust magazine report, "Jaya tried to keep a stoic front for a long time, but eventually she had to bend her head and let the tears roll down."

Rekha later explained her look and revealed that the Sindoor and mangalsutra were simply part of her costume for a film she had been shooting. She further revealed that she headed to the wedding directly from the set and had forgotten to take them off.

However, President Neelam Sanjiva Reddy questioned the actor about her remarkable sindoor at the 1982 National Awards, when she was praised for her role in Umrao Jaan (1981).
