Mithun Chakraborty to be honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke Award, says, "I have risen from footpath, never imagined this"

The announcement of the award was made by Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on September 30. Vaishnaw praised Mithun’s remarkable journey, saying, “Mithun Da’s remarkable cinematic journey inspires generations! Honored to announce that the Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Jury has decided to award legendary actor, Sh. Mithun Chakraborty Ji for his iconic contribution to Indian Cinema.”

The 74-year-old actor will receive the award at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony on October 8, 2024.
