Veteran South Korean actor Ahn Sung Ki has been hospitalised and is currently in critical condition following a sudden medical emergency at his home.

His agency Artist Company confirmed the development. The iconic actor, known for his decades-long contribution to Korean cinema, reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest on December 30 and is now receiving intensive treatment in the ICU.

According to an official statement issued by Artist Company, the actor experienced the emergency after choking on food at his residence. Emergency services were immediately contacted, and CPR was administered before he was rushed to a nearby hospital.

He was subsequently admitted to the intensive care unit, where doctors continue to closely monitor his condition. The agency stated that further medical assessments are underway and urged the public and media to respect the privacy of Ahn Sung Ki’s family during this difficult time.

Multiple Korean media outlets, including Osen and Sports World, reported that the incident occurred at around 4 pm on December 30. The reports added that the actor collapsed while eating and required emergency resuscitation before being transported to hospital. While there has been an outpouring of concern from fans and industry colleagues.

Ahn Sung Ki’s hospitalisation has raised particular concern given his ongoing health struggles. In 2019, the actor publicly revealed that he had been diagnosed with blood cancer and was undergoing treatment.
