Netflix series The Wonder Fools, which garnered significant attention for pairing Cha Eun Woo with Park Eun Bin, has faced uncertainty ahead of its scheduled release later this year.

The series has landed in trouble after Cha Eun Woo was accused of evading taxes totalling about 20 billion KRW (about USD 15 million). Concerns over the project are mounting because the series was initially scheduled in the second quarter of this year.

According to AllKpop, the news of Cha Eun Woo's suspected tax cheating surfaced on January 22. This comes after Park Eun Bin appeared at ‘Next on Netflix 2026 Korea’ and showered praise on Cha Eun Woo.

Meanwhile, Park Eun may back her encouraging message of support. It's unclear if she will be able to carry out her goal to actively promote the series on her own within the next year.

Cha Eun Woo is currently completing his mandatory military service.

About The Wonder Fools

Heo Da Jung wrote the script for the Netflix original series The Wonder Fools, which was directed by Yoo In Shik and produced by Romantic Crew and Kakao Entertainment with co-producer Fantagio.

The plot, which takes place in 1999 during a period of popular apocalyptic beliefs, centres on a group of well-meaning but somewhat awkward neighbours who unintentionally acquire abilities and team together to battle villains endangering Haeseong City's tranquillity. The surprising exploits of these flawed superheroes against the backdrop of the late 1990s are anticipated to enthral viewers worldwide.

Cha Eun Woo plays Lee Woon Jung, a specially assigned public official in Haeseong City who starts looking into a string of unexplained disappearances, while Park Eun Bin plays Eun Chae Ni, a character who abruptly acquires abilities after getting swept up in an unexpected incident. Choi Dae Hoon, Lim Sung Jae, Kim Hae Sook, and Son Hyun Joo are also in the cast; their unique performances will give the show more nuance and colour.
