The Korean entertainment industry has been left heartbroken by the sudden passing of actor Jung Eun-woo, born Jeong Dong-jin. He was just 40 years old.
News of his death was confirmed on 11 February 2026, sending shockwaves through fans and colleagues who remember him as a dedicated and quietly powerful presence on screen.
Jung Eun-woo first stepped into the spotlight in 2006 with the KBS drama Reply 3. Over the years, he steadily built a career marked by versatility and commitment.
Whether it was films like Same-age Tutoring 2, Bad Couple, and Miss Change, or television dramas such as Hit, Chuno, A Man Called God, Laugh, Dong-hae, Bride of the Sun, and Five Fingers, Jung Eun-woo brought sincerity to every role he took on. He may not always have been the loudest star in the room, but he was consistently admired for his craft.
After completing his military service in 2018, Jung Eun-woo returned to acting with renewed focus. In KBS2’s My Only One, he portrayed Wang I-ryuk, the younger brother of Lee Jang-woo’s character, reconnecting with audiences in a family drama that resonated with many viewers.
He later appeared in the 2021 film Memory: Manipulated Murder, continuing to explore darker and more complex roles.
What has made the news even more poignant is a social media post he shared just a day before his passing. On 10 February, Jung Eun-woo uploaded photos of the late Leslie Cheung and Amy Winehouse, writing, “missed, envious, regretful..” The words, simple yet heavy, have since taken on a deeper emotional weight for those who followed him.
His funeral wake has been arranged at New Goryeo Hospital Funeral Hall, Special Room 2. The funeral procession will take place at 12 p.m. on 13 February, with burial at Byeokje Seunghwawon.
