Kajol faces body shaming

Living in the public eye is rarely easy. For celebrities, every outfit, every expression and even the most ordinary candid moments are put under a magnifying glass.

Paparazzi culture only fuels this relentless scrutiny, with photographs and videos snapped without consent quickly spreading online. More often than not, these posts spark hurtful speculation and body-shaming, overshadowing the person behind the image.

Kajol recently became the latest target of such unwarranted chatter. The beloved actress attended a high-profile event looking radiant in a black, body-hugging gown with a metallic neckline that added just the right amount of edge.

With soft waves in her hair, minimal make-up and her trademark bright smile, Kajol exuded elegance and ease. Yet, instead of celebrating her effortless style, the focus in the comment section shifted to insensitive guesses about whether she might be pregnant — a reminder of how quickly admiration online can turn into judgement.

The negativity didn’t go unchecked. Actress and host Mini Mathur stepped forward to defend Kajol, voicing what many quietly felt but few had said out loud. In a sharp rebuke to the intrusive behaviour, she commented: “How dare you zoom in on her body???? She doesn’t owe you guys eternal youth. You don’t get to decide how she should look.”

Her words struck a chord with fans, many of whom applauded her for calling out the culture of nit-picking and shaming women’s bodies.

For Kajol, however, the noise seems unlikely to be a distraction. True to her bold spirit, she is preparing for her return to the screen in the upcoming second season of The Trial: Pyaar, Kaanoon, Dhokha.

She will once again play Noyonika Sengupta, a housewife forced to revive her legal career after her husband, portrayed by Jisshu Sengupta, lands in prison.

An Indian adaptation of the acclaimed American drama The Good Wife, the new season promises plenty of tension — betrayals, professional hurdles and personal battles — as Noyonika navigates her way through the world of law while fighting her own inner struggles.

Speaking at the trailer launch, Kajol hinted at deeper layers to her character’s journey, leaving fans eager to see her in this fearless role once again.
