Actor and dancer Jaaved Jaaferi, a celebrated figure in the Hindi film industry, is renowned for his impeccable comic timing and exceptional dance skills. In a recent conversation Jaaved reflected on some of his most underrated dance performances, shedding light on a few that, in his view, deserved far more recognition.

Recalling one such performance with India Today Digital, Jaaved said, “There was a song I did with Aamir Khan called ‘Jawaani Zindabad,’ where I was the second lead. In my opinion, this is one of the most underrated songs of my career. Saroj Khan choreographed it, and there were around 50 to 100 dancers involved. The production value was huge, but the song never got the recognition it deserved.”

Jaaved also remembered another underappreciated song from his career: “I did this track with Shah Rukh Khan for the film Oh Darling Yeh Hain India, directed by Ketan Mehta. The song had a mafia-like vibe, with music composed by Shankar Mahadevan. From the way it was shot to its overall vibe, I thoroughly enjoyed that experience.”

However, when asked to choose one performance that stood out as a game-changer, Jaaved selected a song from the film Woh Phir Aayegi, which starred Rajesh Khanna, Farha Naaz, Moon Moon Sen, and Shekhar Suman. “The song was called Pehla Pehla Pyaar Hain,” Jaaved explained. “The producer gave me complete creative freedom to choreograph the entire piece. What made it groundbreaking was that the director asked me to be in the frame alone, dancing for four-and-a-half minutes straight. That had never been done before with an actor. It was truly a revolutionary moment for me.”

Looking ahead, Jaaved Jaaferi is set to return to the screen in the second season of Taaza Khabar, where he will star alongside Bhuvan Bam and Shriya Pilgaonkar.
