Actress Rachel McAdams has been honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contributions to cinema, the official Instagram page of the iconic Los Angeles landmark announced in a statement on Wednesday.
McAdams was accompanied at the ceremony by director Sam Raimi and actor Domhnall Gleeson. The honour comes just 10 days ahead of the release of Raimi’s upcoming psychological thriller Send Help, which stars McAdams as a neglected and undervalued employee who survives a plane crash along with her new boss, played by Dylan O’Brien.
“Celebrated for her extraordinary contributions to cinema — bringing depth, heart, and unforgettable performances to the screen — Rachel was honored at the ceremony hosted by @jenelleriley, with remarks from director Sam Raimi and actor Domhnall Gleason. She was surrounded by her parents, husband, family, and special guest Dylan O’Brien for this milestone moment,” read the statement shared on Instagram.
According to US media reports, McAdams became emotional while accepting the honour and expressed heartfelt gratitude to her parents, who were present at the event. Reflecting on her early dreams, Rachel said, “When I was about eight years old, growing up in tiny little St. Thomas, Canada, I wrote my parents a very desperate letter, asking them to figure out how to fulfill my greatest dream — to be on Ed McMahon’s ‘Star Search’.”
ABC News reported that McAdams devoted much of her speech to acknowledging the performers who shaped her artistic journey and worldview. “I’d like to thank the stars up above, down here,” she remarked, referring to the renowned actors she had the privilege of learning from during her career. She specifically mentioned “pioneering Gena Rowlands, the prolific Sam Shepard, and my beloved Diane Keaton, who took me under her wing like I was her own daughter.”
McAdams also shared advice she continues to carry with her from Keaton. “She taught me that no matter how long you've been doing this, you have to leave everything on the table,” McAdams said. Elaborating further, she added, “For each performance, you must muster up as much love as you possibly can, and then you’ll only feel like a dumb-dumb idiot half of the time in life,” drawing laughter from the audience.

The actress has previously spoken candidly about motherhood as well. In a 2018 interview with The Times, she said, “It's the greatest thing that's ever happened to me, hands down.” She added, “I’m having more fun being a mom than I’ve ever had.”
McAdams’ star is the 2,833rd to be added to the Hollywood Walk of Fame since its inception in 1961, symbolising a career defined by consistency, patience, and respect for the craft.
