Former NBA champion Lamar Odom was arrested early Saturday, January 17, 2026, in Las Vegas on a charge of driving under the influence, according to arrest records and law enforcement reports. The 46-year-old was booked at the Clark County Detention Center and also faces two traffic violations: speeding more than 41 miles per hour above the posted limit and improper lane change/failure to maintain lane, court documents show.
Odom, best known for his 14-year NBA career with teams including the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers, was reportedly pulled over by police in the early hours of Saturday. At the time of reporting, he remains in custody ahead of a scheduled court appearance set for March 17, 2026 in Nevada.
The arrest marks a new legal issue for Odom, who previously faced a DUI charge in 2013 in California. In that case, he entered a no-contest plea, received probation, fines, and completed an alcohol education program.
Odom has been open in the past about his struggles with drug and alcohol addiction, enduring a widely publicised near-fatal drug overdose in 2015 at a Nevada brothel that left him in a coma and fighting multiple heart attacks and strokes. He later survived the incident and spoke about his recovery journey in interviews and his 2019 memoir Darkness to Light.
The former Lakers forward was also previously married to reality TV star Khloé Kardashian from 2009 to 2016, and his personal struggles have frequently been covered by entertainment media.
Authorities have not yet released further details regarding any blood alcohol test results, and updates may follow as the case progresses through the Nevada justice system.
