Amy Schumer has officially filed for divorce from her husband, Chris Fischer, as confirmed by New York County court records on Tuesday, 6 January.
The Kinda Pregnant actress, 44, and Fischer, 45, married on 13 February 2018. They welcomed their son Gene in May 2019, now six and a half years old, and over the years the pair have shared glimpses of their family life with warmth and humour. But after seven years together, the couple have made the difficult decision to part ways.
"Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years," Amy Schumer wrote on Instagram on 12 December, addressing the rumours circulating online.
"We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time." She added a touching note about their enduring bond: "Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever."
A source close to the couple told People that the split is “nothing ugly” and described it as “a cohesive split. They've just been finalising a few things.” It’s clear that while their marriage may be ending, the mutual care between them remains strong.
In the months before the announcement, Amy Schumer had been candid about the state of her marriage. In early November, she posted on Instagram Stories with a photo of New York City, praising Hulu’s divorce-lawyer series All's Fair, and reassured fans: "Chris and I are still married."

A week later, a source told People, “They’re privately working through normal issues that couples in long-term marriages have. They are both committed to the relationship."
On 1 December, she also addressed speculation about her personal life, writing alongside a post about her recent health journey: "Whatever ends up happening with me and Chris has nothing to do with weight loss or autism. Fingers crossed we make it through. He's the best."
Looking ahead to 2026, Amy Schumer shared on 4 January her intentions for the new year: "This year is about self care and self love. Appreciate our health our families our friends and have the best year of our lives. Moving forward with no regrets. Just love."
