Rumours travel faster than facts, especially when a celebrity goes quiet. And for the past few months, that’s exactly what’s been happening around Govinda. Stories about the Hero No. 1 star going bankrupt, struggling financially, or even facing trouble at home have been doing the rounds on social media. But according to his longtime manager Shashi Sinha, most of this chatter is not just exaggerated, it’s completely untrue.

Speaking to ANI, Shashi firmly dismissed claims that Govinda is facing a financial collapse. The rumours picked up momentum after the actor was spotted hiring a taxi to the airport, something many online users jumped on as “proof” of financial distress. Shashi clarified that the decision had nothing to do with money.

“Govinda doesn’t just have one car, but many. This is baseless that he’s gone bankrupt and is begging around,” he said, explaining that private vehicles were not allowed on the premises at the time.

Another widely circulated claim suggested that Govinda has been dancing at schools and private events to make ends meet. Shashi called this interpretation unfair and misleading. “This is his profession! That doesn’t mean he’s gone bankrupt,” he stated. He added that Govinda continues to fully support his family. “If he doesn’t take care of his family, who does? He still takes care of his wife and kids.”

Despite not delivering a box-office hit in recent years, Shashi insisted that Govinda remains in demand. According to him, the actor still receives film offers from some of the biggest names in the industry. “I’m witness that he’s said no to work worth crores. It’s fine that he doesn’t like the script or something else, but he’s the first actor whose doesn’t have hits, but still has big producers and actors chasing him,” Shashi said, adding that an announcement related to a major project could happen soon.

He also hinted at developments under Govinda’s home banner, Govinda Films International, suggesting that the actor has been quietly working behind the scenes.

Addressing the most serious financial claim, Shashi revealed that Govinda did come close to bankruptcy once, but only because of his generosity. “There was a time when he withdrew his FD, added some more funds to that sum, and helped other people with that. But that reached a point he had to mortgage his house,” he said. According to Shashi, Govinda worked relentlessly, attending events and performing to repay the loan. “We’ve never talked about it and he’s never asked someone for money… Ye sach hai ki ugte hue sooraj ko hi sab namaskar karte hain.”

Shashi also rubbished rumours about trouble in Govinda’s marriage, calling them baseless household gossip. “Govinda hasn’t married two-three times… There’s no truth there,” he said.

Adding another startling detail, Shashi claimed the actor was once attacked and managed to protect himself. “Thank god he had a gun with him the day he got attacked… We also filed an FIR. We also have a video of what happened that night,” he revealed.
