The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 has left the internet divided into team Jeremiah and team Conrad. However, Gavin Casalegn, who portrayed Jeremiah Fischer, has recently addressed the hate his character has been receiving in the third and final season of the Prime Video series.
Additionally, Gavin finds the criticism he has received regarding his character, who is currently getting married to Lola Tung's Belly character, to be "pretty comical”, despite having cheated on her only weeks prior.
In a recent interview with The New York Times, Gavin said, “They tend to dislike him, yes. I don't check Instagram anymore, so I haven't really seen that much hate. The only thing that I see is my sister sending me the memes that are really funny.”
The actor added, “I think it's important to also understand and realise that this is a fictional story—and it's also not me.”
Although he and Jeremiah are both quite "social," Gavin clarified that he feels a little more mature than his character. He said, “As far as the immature side of things and the partying, I was never a partyer," he said. "It's not who I am at all.”

He also mentioned that it can be difficult to see so many hurtful remarks, even though he is able to distance himself from the criticism his character has been getting. The actor added, “I don't think there's a single human being in the world who can carry the emotional negativity to the degree that stuff like this happens.”
Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty is about a girl caught in a love triangle between two brothers. Things got complicated among the trio as she deals with her first love and first heartbreak during the perfect summer.
