Singer and actress Dhvani Bhanushali is known for her songs like Thank You God and Leja Re, but she became a pop sensation with her breakthrough song, Vaaste. The song helped her garner immense popularity.
During a recent episode of Lilly Singh’s podcast, Bhanushali has reflected on the success of Vaaste and how she was asked to prove herself despite the breakout hit.
The singer said, “I was about 21 when Vaaste happened, I didn’t quite understand the kind of attention I was getting because people around me didn’t think, except my dad, that it was such a big deal. It’s a big deal for a woman in India as a musician to do so well.”
She elaborated, “If the success is coming in, the treatment should change a little, it should get better. The opportunities should get better, and that I don’t think sort of happened for me.”
Despite achieving massive success with chart-topping hits, Bhanushali revealed she often felt stifled. She also shared that she was told she needed "one more song" to truly make it big.
Bhanushali recalled, “They kept me in the same place. I have been told this a lot of times that one more song, and if that reaches, maybe you’ll be somewhere really big, but I am like, I did it already. It’s just that it is never enough.”
Dhvani Bhanushali’s song Thank You God became a hit and a social media trend last year. The singer is currently gearing up for her new single, Aankhon, with Oaff- Savera and Ankur Tewari.
