Actor Saumya Tandon, widely recognised for her work in television series such as Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! and her recent role in the film Dhurandhar, encountered unexpected difficulties while trying to cast her vote in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections held on 15 January 2026.
Despite checking her name and polling details online in advance, the actress discovered that her name was missing from the voter list at the polling station she visited, leading to confusion and delays.
Speaking to a news agency she stated, "I genuinely went to vote and even checked online. There was a booth right below my house, with people sitting there to help me. They were there to guide me about the booth and the location. They told me that I had to come to this place. I had taken a screenshot online, but when I arrived, they were sending me somewhere else."
The actress elaborated that even after checking her information beforehand, she was instructed to head to an alternative polling site.
"They are saying that your location is showing somewhere else online. When I checked online this morning, they had told me to go to Dalmia College. Now I don't understand why this confusion is happening. When I checked my name online and came here, they said you have to go to another place,"actor added.
Despite the logistical hurdles, Saumya remained determined to cast her vote, emphasising the importance of participating in the electoral process. “This is my **right and also my duty. That’s why I have to vote,” she said with a smile, reaffirming her commitment even after taking time off from her shoot."
Saumya Tandon fresh off her role in Dhurandhar, has now been cast in director Sooraj Barjatya’s upcoming romantic drama Yeh Prem Mol Liya, joining a star-studded lineup that includes Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari Wagh.
