Aditya Dhar’s much-talked-about film Dhurandhar, which released in cinemas on 5 December, has now sailed past the Rs 400 crore mark, a milestone that firmly places it among the year’s biggest blockbusters.
The film’s performances have become a major talking point, with audiences frequently singling out Akshaye Khanna for his gripping portrayal of Rehman Dakait.
But amid the admiration, actor Saumya Tandon, who plays Rehman Dakait's wife, Ulfat Hasin, has gently reminded viewers not to overlook the quiet brilliance of Ranveer Singh.
In a heartfelt conversation with Radio City, Saumya Tandon addressed the ongoing praise swirling around the film.
While acknowledging that Akshaye Khanna has deservedly been in the spotlight, she pointed out that "Ranveer Singh’s performance deserves applause too."
She added warmly, “I also want to say one more thing. Everybody’s talking about Akshaye, but I have to tell you, I love Ranveer in that movie.”
Saumya Tandon went on to describe what she believes makes Ranveer Singh’s performance so special — not loud scenes or show-stealing moments, but the opposite.
She explained, “Because, you know, the silent parts? Being a superstar, being a hero. He’s standing behind and giving the stage to Akshaye to do all those nuances. He’s very subtly standing behind as an actor and staying silent. I think it’s the sign of a very mature artist.”
Saumya was all praise for the Dhurandhar team, by stating that the film is for the ‘brave’ and the ‘biggest of them all’ is Aditya.
Written, directed and co-produced by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar follows Ranveer Singh as Jaskirat Singh Rangi — also known as Hamza Ali Mazari — a spy who infiltrates the gang led by Rehman Dakait, played by Akshaye Khanna.
The film features an impressive ensemble cast including R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi, each adding depth to the gritty world the story inhabits.
Saumya Tandon’s role brings emotional texture to the narrative, offering a glimpse into Rehman’s personal life.
