After a spectacular dream run, Director Aditya Dhar's spy action drama Dhurandhar, starring the dynamic duo of Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna, is still going strong at the theaters.
The film, which was initially a very awaited release, has now become a box office phenomenon as it is smashing the records almost every day and thus surprising even the most optimistic trade watchers.
The new landmark was the moment when the early Day 12 estimates were coming in, showing that Dhurandhar had a net earning of approximately Rs 30 crore, matching its second Monday numbers almost perfectly.
This firm grip on the audience is both unusual and commendable, helping the film claim the title of the biggest second Tuesday ever for a Hindi film.
For the industry, which is still very much in a state of uncertainty with regard to theatrical performance, these numbers are, without a doubt, a source of great optimism.
The first week itself was extraordinary, with the film racking up Rs 207.25 crore net. Audiences continued to flock to the theatres in Week 2, with Rs 32.5 crore on Friday, Rs 53 crore on Saturday, and an amazing Rs 58 crore on Sunday.
Although the Monday numbers dipped slightly to Rs 30.5 crore, the film held firm on Tuesday at Rs 30 crore, showcasing just how strong the word-of-mouth buzz has been. Altogether, Dhurandhar has now collected Rs 411.25 crore net in India.
On the gross front, the film stands at approximately Rs 493.5 crore, and the industry fully expects it to cross the Rs 500 crore mark in India by Wednesday. For a film just 12 days into its run, that is no small feat.
Internationally too, Dhurandhar has struck a chord. After crossing Rs 100 crore overseas, its international earnings have now touched Rs 130 crore, bringing its worldwide total to an estimated Rs 623.5 crore.
The global reception reflects not just curiosity but genuine enthusiasm for Aditya Dhar’s new universe and the performances of Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna.
The film has also managed to topple a major benchmark held by Pushpa 2 – The Rule, starring Allu Arjun, which had collected Rs 196 crore net in its second week. Dhurandhar breezed past this figure in merely five days, signalling the scale of its impact.
