The pan-India film Kuberaa, starring Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna, has officially received certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The revised version of the film, which now holds a U/A certificate, has a final runtime of 181 minutes—just over three hours.
Initially, the Censor Board had approved a longer version of Kuberaa with a runtime of three hours and 15 minutes.
The early clearance, however, was a calculated move to avoid last-minute obstacles, as the producers had explained in a previous interview. Prior to release, they had always planned to polish the movie and cut its duration to less than three hours.
Talking about his experience of filming Kuberaa, Dhanush said, “I heard I had to stand in the sun. I had to do a lot of research… All those are lies… I just had to follow my director. Sekhar sir was brilliant. He taught me the nuances. He made life very easy for me. It is a very different character from what I have played before and I enjoyed the challenge."
As he reflected on his relationship with the film, Dhanush said that the experience of filming was unforgettable, mentioning that they used garbage trucks and dumpyards. Every experience has a lesson to teach, he said, adding that Kuberaa is very special to him. "I did this film only because of him (the director). He narrated to me for just 20 minutes. I loved his energy, positivity, his approach, and honesty towards making films. Even as a human being, he is a great person,” he added.

The multilingual film will hit theatres in five languages—Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam—and also features Jim Sarbh and Dalip Tahil in prominent roles.
