A court in Ranchi has resolved the Rs 2.5-crore cheque bounce case against Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel after she settled the full amount owed to the complainant.
The case was disposed of by Judicial Magistrate DN Shukla following an application filed by Jharkhand-based filmmaker Ajay Kumar Singh. Singh is the owner of Lovely World Entertainment.
Singh initially lodged a complaint against Patel in 2018, alleging fraud and cheque bounce.
Ameesha Patel had visited Ranchi to attend an event at Harmu Ground, where she met businessman Ajay Kumar Singh. During their conversation, they discussed the financing of a film.
He claimed to have transferred approximately Rs 2.5 crore to Patel’s bank account for the production of a film titled Desi Magic. However, after Patel did not move forward with the film, she issued a cheque for the same amount, which subsequently bounced.
In November 2021, Ameesha Patel made headlines for a similar issue when a cheque of Rs 32.25 lakh issued to UTF Telefilms bounced. This incident coincided with the buzz around her anticipated silver-screen comeback in Gadar 2, where she stars alongside Sunny Deol. During this period, news of her surrender also garnered significant media attention, highlighting the challenges she faced amidst her return to the film industry.
