As anticipation peaks for Mardaani 3, Yash Raj Films has unveiled a powerful new track titled ‘Babbar Sherni’, once again underlining why Rani Mukerji’s Shivani Shivaji Roy remains one of Hindi cinema’s most iconic female protagonists. Slated to release in theatres on January 30, 2026, the third instalment sees Rani return as the uncompromising cop in a high-stakes mission against a brutal social crime.

The newly released song is a fiery salute to women who refuse to bow down in the face of injustice.

‘Babbar Sherni’ amplifies Shivani’s commanding presence, portraying her as a symbol of strength, courage and relentless resolve. With pulsating beats and defiant lyrics, the track captures the raw energy that defines the Mardaani franchise. Composed, produced and arranged by Sarthak Kalyani, written by Shruti Shukla, and featuring a hard-hitting rap by Dee MC, the song functions as both a promotional anthem and a statement of intent.

Speaking about the track, Rani Mukerji described ‘Babbar Sherni’ as a sonic reflection of the film’s soul. "Babbar Sherni is a powerful sonic embodiment of the film’s soul. It captures the indomitable spirit of Mardaani itself and salutes women as Babbar shernis of our society. Raw, resolute and unflinching, mirroring the personality of Shivani Shivaji Roy, Babbar Sherni is a tribute to a woman’s strength and resolve to bring about change in society. Driven by an unyielding sense of justice, this song reflects her fearlessness and steely determination, celebrating all the women who refuse to back down in the face of adversity."

She added, "More than just a promotional track, it serves as an emotional and ideological extension of the character Shivani Shivaji Roy, channeling strength, courage, and quiet rage into a rallying cry that defines what it truly means to be Mardaani."

Directed by Abhiraj Minawala and produced by Aditya Chopra, Mardaani 3 continues the franchise’s tradition of socially relevant storytelling. While Mardaani exposed the horrors of human trafficking and Mardaani 2 delved into the disturbing mind of a serial rapist, the third film tackles another dark and urgent social reality.

Notably, Mardaani remains India’s only successful female-led franchise fronted by a woman cop — a legacy Mardaani 3 aims to strengthen when it hits cinemas worldwide.
