Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat, who returned to the Hindi films with Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, once spoke about her views on the widespread prevalence of plastic surgery in the film industry and the importance of embracing one’s natural self.
Mallika Sherawat, who made her mark in the early 2000s with bold and unconventional roles, spoke in an interview with Ranveer Allahbadia passionately about why she has chosen to avoid cosmetic procedures like Botox or surgical enhancements, even as such treatments became increasingly common in Bollywood.
She said, “20 saal pehle aap dekhiye plastic surgery ka koi zikar bhi nahi tha. Kisi bhi abhineet ya abhineetri ko aap dekhenge mujhe toh koi plastic surgery nazar nahi aati thi uss waqt ke daur mein.” Adding further, she said, “Aaj ap dekhiye mujhe bhot jagah ye plastic surgery nazar aati hai.” She clarified that she is not judging anyone for that. She added, “ I think it's very toxic and you cannot be tied to that.”
During the interaction, Mallika explained that when a face becomes ‘frozen’ from repeated procedures, it can limit an actor’s ability to convey sincere emotions on screen — a compromise she firmly rejects.
The actress also highlighted the value of maintaining beauty through a disciplined lifestyle, including healthy habits and self-care, rather than looking for quick fixes that may have unknown consequences.
She said, “ Maine abhi tak ek sui (needle) bhi ni lagwayi hai. I am very proud of the fact that i live a very disciplined life.”
“I don’t take alcohol. Mai cigratte sharab ni leti. Mujhe late nights pasand nahi hai. I love doing yoga, pranayam. Living a simple Satvik life inspires me, the actress concluded.
Mallika Sherawat was recently featured in the 2024 film Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video starring Rajkummar Rao and Tripti Dimri in the lead roles.
