Actor Vicky Kaushal recently spoke openly about the crucial role individual responsibility plays in road safety, emphasising that meaningful change cannot rely on government policies alone.
At the Sadak Suraksha Abhiyaan, a nationwide campaign dedicated to promoting safe driving and timely assistance to accident victims, Vicky Kaushal underlined that following traffic rules and safety measures must become a personal duty for every citizen. Sharing his thoughts, he said, “No matter how many schemes the government tries to implement, until and unless we don’t make it our personal duty to follow them, none of it will be possible,” highlighting that the success of policies ultimately depends on people choosing to act responsibly in their daily lives.
Joining him in the campaign, Bollywood icons Amitabh Bachchan and Alia Bhatt have lent their voices and experiences to spread awareness. Amitabh Bachchan, in a heartfelt post on his blog, recounted a moving interaction on stage with Alia Bhatt and a mother who had tragically lost her son in a road accident.
The veteran actor reflected on how public policy has evolved to address a long-standing concern—that bystanders often hesitate to help accident victims out of fear of police inquiries. “The campaign actively encourages passersby to help victims without fear of harassment and even rewards such acts as a gesture of gratitude from the Government of India,” he wrote.
A story shared during the event left a profound impression. A woman dressed in yellow spoke of the unbearable grief she felt as she watched no one step forward to assist her injured son, only to learn at the hospital that timely help could have saved him.
Amitabh Bachchan described her as courageous, transforming personal tragedy into a call for societal change—urging people to act with compassion and urgency, “without anger or blame, only hope for change.”
The moment visibly affected Alia Bhatt, who, as a mother to her three-year-old daughter, Raha, could not hold back her emotions. Amitabh recalled, “As a mother herself to a three-year-old daughter, Raha, Alia struggled to continue, her reaction underscoring the human weight of the issue.”
Meanwhile, according to recent buzz, Vicky Kaushal is set to make a special appearance in the sequel to Uri: The Surgical Strike. The actor is reportedly reprising his much-loved role of Major Vihaan Shergill in an extended cameo, much to the excitement of fans.
