After storming the box office and rewriting records, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar has left audiences eager for what comes next.

With the sequel now firmly on the horizon, excitement around Dhurandhar 2 continues to build — and the latest reports have only made fans more curious.

According to recent buzz, Vicky Kaushal is set to make a special appearance in the sequel. The actor is reportedly coming on board for an extended cameo, reprising his much-loved role of Major Vihaan Shergill from Aditya Dhar’s 2019 hit Uri: The Surgical Strike.

If the reports are accurate, this could be the first step towards a larger cinematic universe that Dhar seems keen to develop.

A source quoted by Mid-Day revealed how carefully this crossover has been planned. “Aditya has been tight-lipped about the star power he is adding to Dhurandhar 2.

The director, who plans to build the Dhurandhar universe, has smartly woven in a track from Uri despite the difference in the two stories’ timelines. Vicky’s character from the war drama, which is set in 2016, is introduced in this film, although it remains unclear whether he and Ranveer’s character cross paths. The cameo includes a few action blocks."

The same report suggests that Vicky Kaushal has already wrapped up filming his portion. Another source added, “Vicky is one of Aditya’s favourite actors. The director was only too happy to design sequences that laid the foundation for a spin-off in the future." Interestingly, Vicky’s scenes were shot last year — well before Dhurandhar went on to become the massive success it is today.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar turned into a cultural and commercial phenomenon. The film not only won praise from critics but also became the biggest film of 2025.

According to Sacnilk, it has earned a staggering Rs 1283.5 crore worldwide by Day 45, with Rs 989.9 crore coming from India and Rs 293.6 crore from overseas markets.

Meanwhile, Vicky Kaushal is currently busy shooting Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ambitious period drama Love and War, alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. The film has now been pushed to 2027, largely due to its massive scale.

Sources told Pinkvilla that a significant portion of filming is still pending, after which the project will move into an extensive post-production phase.

Dhurandhar 2 will release on 19th March, 2026.
