  • No sequels signed yet, but Varun Dhawan says he's busy with upcoming projects.

Varun Dhawan is clearly in a reflective yet exciting phase of his career, and he is taking fans along for the journey.

Ahead of the much-anticipated release of Border 2, the actor recently sat down for an open and relaxed #Varunsays session on X (formerly Twitter), where he spoke honestly about his upcoming work, cleared the air around ongoing rumours, and shared what he truly wants to explore next as an actor.

With Border 2 set to arrive in cinemas on 23 January, Varun Dhawan acknowledged that the film represents an important shift in his filmography.

When a fan asked about a genre he would love to try, especially one Bollywood has rarely embraced, Varun Dhawan did not overthink his response.

He revealed that he would like to be part of a sci-fi mythological film, a combination that allows for grand visuals while staying rooted in Indian storytelling. The answer instantly sparked excitement among fans, many of whom have long wanted to see him take on something bold and unconventional.

Varun Dhawan also used the session to address speculation linking him to Luka Chuppi 2. Responding to questions about what comes after Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, he was refreshingly direct. “There is no sequel of any other film I’m doing. Will decide,” he wrote, making it clear that he has not signed any follow-up projects and is taking his time before committing to the next step.

Even so, Varun Dhawan reassured fans that he is far from slowing down. Dropping a teasing update, he added, “Kuch nahi sign kiya lekin busy bahut hoon,” suggesting that while nothing is official yet, plenty is happening behind the scenes.

On the work front, audiences will soon see Varun Dhawan step into the role of Colonel Hoshiar Singh Dahiya PVC in Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh. Sharing screen space with Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty, the film promises a powerful mix of patriotism and emotion.

Slated for release on 5 June 2026, the film marks another collaboration with his father, while signalling that Varun Dhawan continues to balance experimentation with the kind of cinema he grew up loving.
