Actor Tamannaah Bhatia has finally addressed the buzz surrounding her recent body transformation, setting the record straight once and for all.
In a world where celebrities are often accused of using weight-loss drugs like Ozempic and Mounjaro, the Baahubali star has made it clear that her transformation is entirely natural and the result of self-acceptance, not shortcuts.
In a heartfelt conversation with Harper’s Bazaar, Tamannaah opened up about how her body has evolved over the years, saying she’s now learning to embrace her natural shape rather than trying to change it.
“I have been in front of the camera since the age of 15, and people have seen me grow up in front of the camera, so there is nothing to hide. Till my late 20s, I was a slender body type. That was always my body. This body in which I am right now is technically not new to me. I have grown up like this, and I have stayed like this,” she said.
The actress added that while some audiences may find her current look new, those familiar with her work in South Indian cinema have seen her in many different avatars over the years.
“This might be new for the Hindi belt of the audience, but I am nearing 100 films, so people have seen my work in so many different films and in so many different bodies, but essentially on the leaner side. But what people need to understand is that a woman’s body is always changing, and every five years we see a different version of our own self,” she explained.
Tamannaah also spoke candidly about how the COVID-19 pandemic affected her physically and emotionally.
“For me, Covid hit my body really hard, and it became difficult to keep my body at the same weight as it was in my 20s. I struggled with it. I love food, I love to eat my rice, roti, dal,” she shared.
She admitted that constantly being in front of the camera made her overly conscious of her appearance.
“While doing all those healthy things, I still had to face the camera, and I began to feel that I don’t want to be conscious of feeling a certain size… Because at some point, my tummy was coming out, and I was thinking what is happening to my body.”
Tamannaah’s message on body acceptance was both real and relatable.
“But inflammation is real. Any woman who is going through the cycle feels like her body is shifting. I went through the same in my early 30s, and my curves are not going anywhere. My curves are not going anywhere because I am Sindhi. That hip and waist are not going anywhere because that is bone structure. I don’t think you will ever see me following global beauty standards because it’s aspirational to be Indian, people love our curves, and I think it’s time that we should embrace that.”
On the work front, Tamannaah was last seen in Prime Video’s Do You Wanna Partner alongside Diana Penty, Nakuul Mehta, Jaaved Jaaferi, and Neeraj Kabi.
