Director and choreographer Remo D'Souza had a severe heart attack in 2020. It occurred shortly after the COVID-19 outbreak had subsided and the industry was beginning to return to its regular schedule.
The industry was shocked by the news of Remo's attack. He was scheduled to film with Salman Khan for Bigg Boss, but he sensed something wasn't quite right after seeing a number of strange indicators.
Remo and his wife, Lizelle, talked about the harrowing day and how Salman saved them.
Speaking to Nayandeep Rakshit, Lizelle, Remo's wife, recalled how quickly Salman was able to assist them.
She said, “He was lying down in the gym and then sat in the lift. It felt unusual. When I asked him, he said it felt like something was stuck in his chest. I started analysing what he had eaten for breakfast. I even put my Apple Watch on his wrist — it showed ‘inconclusive’. Then I asked him, ‘Remo, do you want to go to the hospital?’ For the first time, he said, ‘Yes.’ And we left immediately. He was supposed to shoot for Bigg Boss that day."
Lizelle disclosed that at first, she had thought it was merely a standard examination. She assumed that after a few blood tests, the physicians would send him home.
She recalled she was on a call when the doctor approached her and said, “Ma’am, it’s a heart attack." Shocked by the news, she looked at him and responded, “What?"
She added, “By the time it was out, I called Salman Bhai because of the Bigg Boss shoot. Bhai called me back — he had already spoken to everyone at the hospital."
She revealed that although she typically saw herself as strong, she felt insignificant at the time. Because she was aware that one poor choice could alter everything, everything around her sounded like noise. They believed it might be COVID, but they were mistaken. Salman was on calls all the time, she continued, and when she looked at Remo, he was surprised, chuckling.

Lizelle asked Remo, “‘What are you laughing at? They are saying you have had a heart attack!’ He just kept laughing. I think he couldn’t process it." She also said that before the doctors took him into the operation theatre, she told him, “You won’t let me down," and he replied, “I won’t".
On the work front, Remo’s recent directorial, Be Happy, featured Abhishek Bachchan and Nora Fatehi.
