Rajpal Yadav was recently released from Tihar jail on bail and has talked to the media, making a few comments that have raised eyebrows among the fans. The actor has recently suggested that the jail should have a smoking area like railway stations and airports.

Rajpal’s comments weren’t welcomed with open arms and received trolls and criticism on social media.

The actor noted that the inmates who are battling addiction ought to have access to these spaces. He also made it clear that he was not advocating for tobacco use and clarified that he was speaking from firsthand smoking experience.

However, several social media users called out for asking for a smoking area in jail.

One person tweeted, “Paisa to uda diya, cigarette ke dhuein ka chhalla bhi udayega jail mein.”

Another commented, “rajpal yadav is doing nobody any favours by asking for smoking rooms right after coming out of jail and celebrating at weddings. always knew there's something fishy about this case.”

A third person wrote, “Yeh toh zyaada free hogaya ab … Kal Bolega bar bhi hona chahiye.” Another wrote, “You can’t afford to pay cheques, yet you want changes.”

“Someone should explain Rajpal Yadav that he is a criminal and was sent there not for leisure activities,” noted another.

In addition to the proposal for a smoking place, Rajpal discussed broader jail changes. He emphasised that prisons ought to serve as hubs for reform rather than only as locations for punishment.

The actor stressed the importance of "structured opportunities to change." He advocated giving inmates who behave well genuine opportunities to get back on their feet.
