Actor Rajpal Yadav took a trip down memory lane as his evergreen blockbuster comedy Malamaal Weekly turns 20. While marking the occasion, the actor thanked fans for loving the film and the character of “Bajey”.

The actor posted a compilation video of Bajey’s funniest moments from the film on Instagram. While thanking the fans for loving the character and the film over the years, the actor in the caption wrote that he can’t believe it’s been 20 years already. “Yakeen nahi ho raha ki 20 saal ho gaye! Bajey ko aur film ko itna pyar dene ke liye aap sabka dil se shukriya.”

Directed by Priyadarshan, the 2006 comedy was a hit for its quirky humour and ensemble cast. Powered by the stellar performances of Paresh Rawal, Riteish Deshmukh, Om Puri and Asrani, the film has over time gained cult status among comedy lovers.

It remains as one of the most entertaining films in Rajpal Yadav’s career. The story revolves around a poor village where a winning lottery ticket worth a huge amount triggers chaos among villagers, leading to a series of hilarious misunderstandings and schemes.

The film’s unique plot and comic timing made it a memorable entry in the genre of Bollywood comedy.

Rajpal’s portrayal of Bajey, a quirky and irritating brother of the village head, became very popular with the audience.

Even years after its release, clips and dialogues from the film continue to circulate widely on television and social media platforms.

Rajpal Yadav was currently in the headlines due to his Rs 9 crore cheque bounce case. The actor was released from jail on bail on February 17 after he surrendered in Tihar Jail on February 5.  The Delhi High Court granted him temporary relief, with the next hearing scheduled for March 18, 2026.
