In an exclusive interview with ANI, Gupta shared that when she first moved to the city to pursue acting, she arrived with no work, no money and no family. She said, "I felt lonely. No mom, no dad, no money. I was staying at someone's place who didn't want me there," she said candidly.

Speaking about that period, the Badhaai Ho and Panchayat star said she didn’t even dare to come to Mumbai alone and therefore travelled with her then-boyfriend. "I wish I had someone who would have guided me on the rules of entering the film business. One of the biggest disasters was doing the film 'Saath Saath'. The film was a big hit and I became very confident. And that was the end of it. Actresses who want to lead should not begin with comedy," she added.
