  • Rani Mukerji returns as cop Shivani Roy in a race to rescue missing girls
  • First poster teases a dark, urgent thriller tackling real-world social issues

Yash Raj Films has officially preponed the release of its highly anticipated action thriller Mardaani 3 to January 30, 2026, moving it ahead from its earlier planned February 27, 2026 launch during Holi week. The announcement came with the first official poster, setting the tone for another gritty chapter in the cult Hindi franchise led by Rani Mukerji.

Mardaani is widely regarded as the biggest solo female-led franchise in Hindi cinema, capturing audiences with its hard-hitting portrayal of crime, social issues and a fearless woman cop at the centre. Rani Mukerji returns as Senior Inspector Shivani Shivaji Roy, the tenacious police officer who has become one of Bollywood’s most iconic crime-fighter characters.

The newly unveiled poster captures Shivani in a fierce expression, wielding a gun and staring down the lens with the determination she’s known for, while silhouettes and images of several missing girls loom behind her — signalling a race against time to bring them to safety. The caption shared by YRF emphasised her relentless pursuit, saying “She won’t stop, until she rescues them all!” in a gripping cinematic promise.

Earlier, Rani had described this instalment as “dark, deadly, and brutal,” a theme echoed in promotional materials and fan reactions to the poster. The franchise’s first film dealt with the chilling realities of human trafficking, while Mardaani 2 tackled the mind of a psychotic serial criminal. Now, Mardaani 3 is expected to continue that legacy with another issue-based story rooted in real-world dangers faced by girls and women.

Directed by Abhiraj Minawala and produced by Aditya Chopra, the film has built anticipation among fans eager to see how Shivani handles her most urgent and complex case yet. The preponement of the release suggests confidence from the makers to capture early 2026 audiences and potentially avoid clashes with other big theatrical releases later in the year.

With its combination of edge-of-the-seat storytelling, social relevance, and a commanding central performance by Rani Mukerji, Mardaani 3 is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about Bollywood thrillers of the year when it hits screens on January 30, 2026.
