Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan is facing a wave of online criticism after a dance sequence from his latest film, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, released on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025, went viral for all the wrong reasons. The sequence features Kartik performing to the iconic Saajanji Ghar Aaye, originally picturised on Salman Khan and Kajol in the 1998 film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Rather than being celebrated as a tribute, the clip has sparked ridicule and disappointment across social media platforms.
In the video, Kartik, dressed in a traditional ethnic outfit, makes an entry at a wedding scene before breaking into choreographed steps to the beloved track, soon joined by co‑star Ananya Panday.
But fans were quick to compare his rendition with the original, and many felt the remake lacked the effortless charm, charisma, and “swag” that Salman brought to the song three decades ago. Some users openly mocked the performance, claiming Kartik’s version “ruined” a classic and saying no contemporary star could match the aura of the original.
“Only salman khan,” one wrote, with another sharing, “Always Salman khan.”
“Worst version,” one mentioned, with one sharing, “Unmatched and Irreplaceable.” “Bhai is far better than kartik. No one can match that level,” one wrote. One social media user mentioned, “Salman & Shahrukh should get copyrights for their hit song.”
“#KartikAaryan please stop ruining our iconic songs and dance steps. You can't even matched 1 Percent of #SalmanKhan's Swag and Persona,” one wrote.
“Bhai har movie me remake and remix? Its annoying now,” one wrote. Another shared, “salman always best.”
This backlash comes on the heels of earlier criticism the film has faced for remixing another classic track, Saat Samundar Paar, which also triggered mixed reactions online.
Directed by Sameer Vidwans, the movie also stars Ananya Panday, Jackie Shroff and Neena Gupta. It is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Shareen Mantri Kedia, and Kishor Arora.
