Deepika Padukone has been making headlines following reports that she declined to audition for The White Lotus Season 4.

According to a recent report by Variety India, the actress was approached by the makers for the upcoming season and was invited to audition as part of the casting process. However, she reportedly chose not to participate in the audition.

While Deepika has not directly addressed the speculation, she shared a reflective note on her Instagram Stories on Friday, prompting many social media users to wonder whether it was a subtle response to the circulating reports.

The note read, “Becoming calm is the loudest flex. Anyone can lose their shit, react fast, talk loud, and make noise. That takes zero strength. Real power shows up when chaos hits, and you don’t fold. When drama tries to pull you in, and you stay grounded. When life pokes you again and again, and you still choose control over impulse. Yeah, it takes work."

It further continued, “It takes unlearning bullshit reactions, sitting with discomfort, and not letting emotions run the show. Calm isn’t weakness; it’s mastery. It’s knowing you don’t have to prove anything, explain everything, or react to everyone. While others burn energy panicking, you move quietly, clearly, and on purpose. In a world addicted to noise, staying calm is a damn superpower."

Reports suggest that the team behind The White Lotus had shown considerable interest in casting Deepika not just for Season 4 but also earlier for Season 3. However, at the time, the actress was pregnant and had declined the opportunity.

A source told Variety India, “Auditions are a mandatory part of the casting process for The White Lotus. The makers were very keen on auditioning actors before signing them on. Deepika Padukone was not keen on auditioning, and that was the reason why the White Lotus opportunity had to be passed."

Deepika’s potential involvement in the acclaimed HBO series would have marked a significant return to Hollywood. The actress made her international debut with xXx: Return of Xander Cage in 2017, starring alongside Vin Diesel, Donnie Yen, Kris Wu, Ruby Rose, Tony Jaa, Nina Dobrev and Toni Collette, among others.

Had she come on board for The White Lotus Season 4, it would have signalled her return to the global entertainment space after her 2017 Hollywood debut.
