Shahid Kapoor starrer O'Romeo has received an "A" certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), clearing the censorship process and is now all set to hit the theatres.
However, the film received the certification on February 11 after the required alterations and cuts.
According to Bollywood Hungama, before approving the film, the censor board requested that the filmmakers change a number of words and situations.
In the film, the word ‘item’ was replaced by ‘Kumari’. A word was allegedly muted and a "inappropriate" term was removed in a few of the other scenes.
These adjustments were made in accordance with the certification requirements. Interestingly, CBFC did not request that any of the film's romantic or private moments be deleted. Additionally, particular emphasis was paid to the film's violent elements.
There were reports that one close-up shot with throat-cutting images was edited by 20%, or about three seconds of video. Additionally, the board requested more cuts, such as two seconds each of a close-up of blood squirting onto a woman's face and a carnage scenario featuring a "bloodshed head hitting."
Additionally, rumours state that other alterations included cutting down on the length of a scene in which a lady is smacked. Anti-smoking and anti-tobacco tickers were included in the movie, and the voice-over and disclaimers were extended by about two minutes.
O Romeo was formally authorised with a runtime of 178.41 minutes, or roughly two hours and 58 minutes, following the modifications recommended by the CBFC. On February 11, the certificate was issued, paving the way for the movie to be released in theatres on February 12, 2027, which is Valentine's Day weekend.
