Rapper Badshah has landed in legal trouble over his most recent Haryanvi song, Tateeree. He has been summoned by the Haryana State Commission for Women (HSCW).

The commission received complaints alleging that the song had vulgar, obscene lyrics and images that could be offensive to women and children.

After the song's release on March 1, 2026, it sparked discussion within Haryana local groups and on social media.

The commission made the decision to formally investigate the issue in response to these complaints.

Badshah has been summoned to present his perspective on the matter.

Two complainants from Panipat objected to the song's lyrics and video, which sparked the controversy.

The song's lyrics, according to social activist Savita Arya, who leads the Nari Tu Narayani Utthan Samiti, and Shiv Kumar of the Shiv Aarti India Foundation, are offensive to women and violate cultural norms. They called on the authorities to prosecute the singer.

The Haryana State Commission for Women took suo motu cognisance of these concerns and sent Badshah a notice. He has been summoned by the commission to attend a hearing that is set for March 13, 2026, at 11:30 a.m.

Commission chairperson Renu Bhatia will preside over the hearing, which will be held in the conference room of the District Commissioner's office in Panipat.

Additionally, the commission has instructed the Panipat Superintendent of Police to make sure that everyone involved attends the hearing. Before determining whether any additional action is necessary, officials will hear the accusations and Badshah's explanation.

Renu Bhatia also questioned how the song was approved by authorities prior to its release. The problem, according to her, raises questions about how such material is authorised for public dissemination. The commission claims that when all sides give their opinions during the hearing, the issue will be thoroughly examined.
