In the wake of the horrific lynching of Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh, a wave of outrage has spread across India — not just among the public, but within the entertainment industry as well. Das, a Hindu garment factory worker, was brutally beaten and killed by a mob over alleged blasphemy, with distressing footage circulating widely on social media and sparking international concern.
Amid this response, filmmaker and activist Ashok Pandit publicly thanked Janhvi for raising her voice. In an Instagram post, Pandit applauded her for speaking up against injustice at a time when remaining silent would have been easier. He wrote, “THANK YOU JANHVI KAPOOR
In an era where silence is convenient and courage is rare, Janhvi Kapoor chose to speak. By condemning the brutal killing of Dipu Das in Bangladesh, she stood firmly on the side of humanity - without fear or filters. She knew the cost: trolling, hatred, and attacks from those with selective outrage and lommunal lenses.”
The filmmaker added further, “When an international troll and habitual offender - known for siding with anti-India forces tried to harass her, it only vindicated her stand. Because when such voices attack you, it's a clear sign you are on the right side of India and truth. She spoke because injustice anywhere deserves a voice everywhere. She, in the true sense, is a HEROine. In times of growing darkness, voices like hers are hope.”
A few days back, Janhvi Kapoor condemned the incident in strong terms. In a heartfelt post, Janhvi described the killing as barbaric, inhumane and far from an isolated event.
She posted the note with title, “Dipu Chandra Das”. “What is happening in Bangladesh is barbaric. It is slaughter and it is not an isolated incident. If you don't know about his inhumane public lynching, read about it, see the videos, ask the questions. And if despite all of this you feel no rage, then it is exactly this kind of hypocrisy that will destroy us before we know it,” Janhvi wrote.
The Homebound actor added, “We will continue to cry about things half way across the globe while our own brothers and sisters are burnt to death. Extremism in any and every form needs to be called out and condemned before we forget our humanity.”
On December 18 in Bangladesh, a Hindu youth named Dipu Chandra Das was brutally beaten to death by a mob and set on fire in public.
