Bollywood actor Janhvi Kapoor has sparked widespread online support after publicly condemning the brutal lynching of Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh, calling the incident “barbaric” and urging people to confront such extremism with outrage rather than silence. The actor took to her Instagram Stories to share her reaction to the viral and disturbing video of Das’ public killing, urging followers to educate themselves about the incident and to speak out against violence.

In her message, Janhvi described the lynching — in which Das, a garment factory worker, was beaten and killed by a mob — as inhumane and symptomatic of a broader problem that should outrage all who see it. She posted the note with title, “Dipu Chandra Das”. “What is happening in Bangladesh is barbaric. It is slaughter and it is not an isolated incident. If you don't know about his inhumane public lynching, read about it, see the videos, ask the questions. And if despite all of this you feel no rage, then it is exactly this kind of hypocrisy that will destroy us before we know it,” Janhvi wrote.

The Homebound actor added, “We will continue to cry about things half way across the globe while our own brothers and sisters are burnt to death. Extremism in any and every form needs to be called out and condemned before we forget our humanity.”

Her post quickly drew praise from fans and netizens who applauded her for using her platform to speak against mob brutality and human rights abuses, at a time when many celebrities avoid commenting on sensitive international incidents. Some social media users described Janhvi’s stand as courageous and necessary, noting that it helped raise awareness about violence against minorities and the importance of confronting hatred wherever it occurs.

The lynching of Dipu Chandra Das — who was targeted by a mob amid allegations of blasphemy — has drawn international condemnation, sparked protests, and reignited debates over religious intolerance and mob violence in South Asia. Several rights groups and public figures have called for justice and accountability, and Bangladesh authorities have detained multiple suspects in connection with the killing.
