Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s Nishaanchi failed at the box office, but the commercial setback didn’t affect him anymore. The filmmaker has recently addressed the disappointing performance of Nishaanchi and joked that he is no longer alarmed by such results because he is accustomed to them.
During a recent trailer launch event for his upcoming film, Dacoit, Anurag Kashyap was asked by News18 Showsha about how disappointed he was with Nishaanchi's box office performance.
The filmmaker responded, “I am used to it. I probably expected a little bit more. I realised it on the second day. Because it was one film, we decided to put both parts together on OTT. It was a file produced by Amazon, so I am okay.”
Anurag Kashyap is currently making his Telugu acting debut in the film Dacoit, which also stars Mrunal Thakur and Adivi Sesh. The movie is scheduled to hit theatres in March of the following year. The actor-director attended the teaser launch event in Hyderabad on Thursday.
The filmmaker talked about the upcoming film and said, “Dacoit for me is very Hollywood-like film. In the beginning, when I came onboard, I observed that the shooting style is not like how I shoot. Adivi Sesh also has his own style.”
He elaborated, “However, when I am acting, I surrender. I saw two scenes. First I saw a sequence which I was not a part of. It really moved me when I saw the results. I’ve not seen Mrunal like this ever – this will be a game changer for her.”
Meanwhile, Nishaanchi, directed by Anurag Kashyap and starring Vedika Pinto and Aaishvary Thackeray, hit the theatres on September 19. Aaishvary, the grandson of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray, made his Bollywood debut with the film.
In the crime drama, he played the roles of brothers Babloo and Dabloo Nishaanchi. Anurag is the director of Nishaanchi, which was written by Prasoon Mishra and Ranjan Chandel.
