Adivi Sesh praises Dhurandhar’s depiction of 26/11, contrasting it with his own experience on the Major

Many viewers have described the 26/11 sequence in Dhurandhar as hard-hitting, deeply emotional, and nerve-wracking. The scene stands out for its raw intensity, as it uses actual voice recordings of the terrorists and their handlers, lending a chilling sense of realism and authenticity to the depiction of the Mumbai terror attacks.

Adivi Sesh praises Dhurandhar depiction of 26 11

Actor Adivi Sesh, known for playing Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan in the 2022 film Major, has opened up about his admiration for Dhurandhar’s representation of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, calling the film “extraordinary” and highlighting what it accomplished beyond his own work on the subject.

At the trailer launch for his upcoming film Dacoit, Adivi Sesh reflected on the rigor of his research for Major, in which he portrayed the heroic NSG officer who laid down his life during the 2008 terror siege. He said that while Major involved extensive preparation on the attacks and Operation Black Tornado, Dhurandhar offered him a fresh perspective by delving into the Pakistani side of the narrative—a dimension he hadn’t explored in his own project. This broader viewpoint, he suggested, was part of what made Dhurandhar’s storytelling impactful and resonant.

Adivi Sesh praised director Aditya Dhar and the film’s execution, labeling it “India’s biggest film at the moment” and applauding its organic success at the box office, noting that its performance wasn’t driven by promotional gimmicks but by genuine audience interest. He also expressed pride in the film’s ability to connect with viewers through its intense and unfiltered depiction of terrorism and its consequences.

Dhurandhar has sparked widespread conversation since its release, with particular attention on scenes depicting the 26/11 attacks, including sequences that use real audio recordings to amplify the emotional weight. Survivors of the attacks have publicly responded to these portrayals, describing them as powerful and chilling, underlining the film’s emotional impact.

A survivor of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks recently reacted to the “red screen” scene in Dhurandhar, saying it sent chills down her spine. Director Aditya Dhar responded to the praise, writing, “Your words remind us why this story had to be told. That moment was shaped to reflect the brutal truth. If it leaves a mark, it is to ensure we remember, stand united, and never allow such darkness to return. Thank you for surviving, for speaking, and for strengthening our collective resolve.”
