The first trailer of Sheeba Chaddha and Rajesh Tailang's new series 'Bakaiti' is out. The trailer gives a glimpse of the duo’s effortless chemistry on-screen, making it a treat to watch.
Bakaiti, which will stream on Zee 5, is produced by Dice Media.
Bakaiti, at its heart, depicts a middle-class family whose arguing, teasing, and explosions are really different ways of expressing love for one another.
They always end up back where they started, despite how heated their arguments get. Things like ‘cooler band kar diya?’, ‘Light bill bhardo’, ‘Paani ki Tanki bhar gai’, are heard daily, but what lies underneath is their unspoken, unexpressed love.
On August 1, 2025, the series will make its debut on ZEE5, and it is ideal for families.
Bakaiti follows the eccentric yet close-knit Kataria Parivaar as she navigates the captivating mayhem of ancient Ghaziabad.
Naina, played by Tanya Sharma, is a 21-year-old with aspirations and a firm grasp on reality who finds herself thrust into the role of older sister of Bharat, played by Aditya Shukla, a boundary-blind, cricket-mad, and mischievous adolescent.
Their parents, Sanjay (Rajesh Tailang) and Sushma (Sheeba Chaddha), observe their children's arguments as they happen while they deal with unsaid sadness, increasing stress, uncertain finances, and the monotony of daily life.
Disputes arise between different generations of the Kataria family as they face increasing costs and tough choices.
The parents handle the ups and downs with humor and love as Naina seeks space and Bharat explores limits. The animosity doesn't end with the children, though; it runs deeper into the gulf between Ajay, the more pragmatic sibling, and Sanjay, the more emotionally driven older brother.
They are the beating heart of the Kataria home, with their continual yin and yang, daily mayhem, and competing viewpoints. Unspoken but ever-present, love clings through it all. Bakaiti is a joyous ode to the family unit, which is real, flawed, and full of surprises.

"Bakaiti is a heartwarming reflection of the quintessential Indian middle-class family, its chaos, conflicts, and unconditional love. We’re thrilled to collaborate with Pocket Aces and bring this tender, sharply observed dramedy to our audiences. Adding to our growing repertoire of relatable, slice-of-life narratives, Bakaiti will certainly strike a nostalgic, emotional chord with our viewers everywhere," said Kaveri Das, Business Head, ZEE5 Hindi.
Sharing her experience Sheeba Chaddha said, “Being part of Bakaiti felt like stepping into a world that’s incredibly familiar yet rarely shown with such honesty. The Kataria family reflects the unsaid love, everyday struggles, and quiet strength that define so many Indian homes. Playing Sushma reminded me how laughter and love can thrive even in the chaos. I’m thrilled to bring this relatable story to life with such a heartfelt team.”
Rajesh Tailang also shared, “Bakaiti is a story that feels lived-in, like a memory from your own past. Sanjay reminded me of so many fathers—silent providers, emotional anchors, and sometimes accidental comedians. There’s beauty in the everyday, and this series captures it with so much heart. I feel grateful to reunite with Sheeba ji and work with a team that values nuance, humour, and the tender messiness of family life.”
‘Bakaiti’ will premiere on ZEE5 on 1st August 2025, promising a heartfelt journey through the everyday chaos, charm, and comedy of family life.
