Aishwarya Rai Bachchan returns at the Cannes Film Festival

Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan turned heads at the 78th Cannes Film Festival in a handwoven Kadwa ivory Banarasi saree by Manish Malhotra. The actress’ return to Cannes broke the internet as she beautifully honoured Indian handloom at the global red carpet. It was her sindoor which won people’s hearts, and many saw it as a tribute to Operation Sindoor.

Aishwarya also shared a series of photos from her Cannes 2025 appearance on social media, which received immense praise from her followers.

The actress took to her Instagram to share a detailed look at her attire. She simply dropped a heart, a sparkle and a joining hands emoji.

Several fans took to the comment section to praise her look and call her 'ethereal'. One fan wrote, “Queen of Cannes.” Another Instagram user said, “Aishwarya in a sari is all we needed to see in Cannes.” A third person commented, “Synonym of beauty and elegance.”

Aishwarya’s saree features handwoven brocade motifs and hand-embroidered zari detailing in real silver. She completed her look with a sheer white tissue handwoven dupatta, edged with real gold and silver zardozi embroidery.

She elevated her stunning look with a Manish Malhotra jewellery featuring over 500 carats of Mozambique rubies and uncut diamonds in 18k gold. She also wore statement ruby rings.

The actress’ vibrant red sindoor garnered most attention, with some of the fans calling it a tribute to India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ against Pakistan. She kept her hair parted and open.

Designer Manish Malhotra also posted pictures of Aishwarya Rai on the Cannes red carpet.
