Abhishek Bachchan, currently basking in the success of his latest release I Want To Talk, recently reflected on a crucial moment in his life. During an interview, he shared how he once confided in his father, the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, about his doubts regarding his acting abilities and questioned if he was truly meant for the profession.

During an interview with Galatta Plus, the Dhoom star opened up about a challenging period in his career when several of his films failed to perform at the box office consecutively. He said, "Critics were panning my performances, no matter who I worked with. I say ‘who I worked with’ because I worked with some of the biggest directors, hoping that okay, they'll teach me stuff and rectify stuff that I haven't managed to do. But nothing was happening."

Further sharing details about a heartfelt conversation he once had with his father, Amitabh Bachchan, he stated, "In a weaker moment, which is embarrassing for me to think of now, I went to my dad and said, ‘We need to talk. I think I made a big mistake. I’m not cut out for this because no matter what I do, it isn't working. I've tried all kinds of cinema, genres, and filmmakers. I'm just not able to do it. Maybe it's time for me to be honest with myself and say, ‘Hey, you’re not cut out for this. You're not good enough. Find something else to do."

Amitabh Bachchan then boosted Abhishek's confidence, encouraging him with the wisdom and support of a senior actor. "I’m saying this to you as your senior, not as your father. You're nowhere near the finished product. You have a lot of improving to do. But I'm noticing improvement in every film of yours. There's a hidden good actor within you. How good you become is up to you and how hard you want to work. The only way you're going to be able to polish your craft is by working."

Abhishek shared that he focused on taking any role that came his way, be it supporting, secondary, or tertiary—until he regained his confidence. He explained that his persistence eventually paid off, as he proved himself at the box office and reestablished his credibility as a bankable leading actor.

Abhishek Bachchan’s latest film, I Want To Talk, directed by Shoojit Sircar, explores the beautiful dynamics of a father-daughter relationship as his character, Arjun Sen, faces a pivotal life-altering surgery. The film hit theaters on November 22. Abhishek has also delivered an outstanding performance in the web series Breathe: Into the Shadows, streaming on Prime Video, marking his impressive foray into the OTT space.
