Rumours regarding purported issues in Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai's marriage have been going around in the media and on social media for more than a year. The couple continues to appear in public together and regularly post family photos online, which lends little credence to the persistent rumours, despite the fact that they have never directly addressed them.
While promoting his next film, Kaalidhar Laapata, Abhishek has finally addressed the wider issue of inaccurate information and negativity in the media. In a recent interview with ETimes, the actor talked about how rumours and internet rumours impact not only himself but also his loved ones.
Speaking candidly, Abhishek said that while he was once able to shrug off false stories about himself, his perspective has shifted as he now has a family to consider. “It’s very upsetting. You’re not me, you don’t live my life,” he shared.
The Guru actor added that trying to correct false narratives often feels futile, as such clarifications are frequently distorted. “It’s so convenient to sit anonymously behind a computer screen and write the nastiest things. You do realise you’re hurting somebody. No matter how thick-skinned they are, it affects them. How would you like it if somebody did that to you?” he questioned, highlighting the toxic nature of online commentary.
One of Bollywood's most famous couples, Abhishek and Aishwarya, got married in 2007 and have a 13-year-old daughter named Aaradhya. The pair has collaborated on a number of films, such as Guru, Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke, Dhoom 2, and Kuch Naa Kaho.
On the work front, Abhishek is getting ready for the release of his upcoming digital film, Kaalidhar Laapata, which also features Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and up-and-coming actor Daivik Bhagela.
The narrative centres on a middle-aged man who is experiencing memory loss and increasing feelings of loneliness. The Madhumita-directed movie will debut on ZEE5 on July 4.
