He recently changed his name from Prateik Babbar to Prateik Smita Patil, choosing to honor his mother, the legendary actress Smita Patil. By doing this, he has shown his deep respect and emotional connection to his mother and her legacy in Indian cinema.

Prateik Smita Patil’s wedding to Priya Banerjee on February 14, 2025, was an intimate affair that notably did not include his father, veteran actor Raj Babbar, or his half-siblings, Aarya and Juhi Babbar.

This decision led to public expressions of disappointment from the Babbar family. Aarya Babbar voiced his confusion and hurt, suggesting that external influences might have led Prateik to distance himself from the family.
