In Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, PM Modi focused on the state’s law and order situation. He criticized the previous Samajwadi Party (SP) administration for its alleged complicity with criminal elements.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a series of sharp attacks on May 25 against the Opposition while addressing public gatherings in Karakat, Bihar, and Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, emphasising his government’s achievements in improving national security and regional development.

Focus on national security in Karakat

Speaking in Karakat, Bihar, PM Modi highlighted the significant changes in India's defense posture under his administration. He claimed that Pakistan now "thinks 100 times before doing anything against India," contrasting this with what he described as the ineffectiveness of previous Congress and RJD governments in handling internal threats.

"During the Congress, RJD regime, Naxals scared everyone. Modi is not afraid. Naxals are being flushed out at a rapid pace," he stated.

Tackling lawlessness in UP

In Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, PM Modi focused on the state’s law and order situation. He criticised the previous Samajwadi Party (SP) administration for its alleged complicity with criminal elements. "Under the SP rule, mafia used to roam around with 'Lal Batti'. They used to challenge the law in open jeeps. They used to open fire at their nemesis. Riots were an identity of UP," the PM said. He contrasted this with the current administration under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, claiming that "riots and rioters, both are gone."

PM Modi also targeted SP leader Akhilesh Yadav, accusing him of hypocrisy. "The Shehzade of the SP once said that they would stop the entry of mafia, but then he went and sat at the feet of the mafia. SAP nourished the mafia and gave them tickets," he said.

Criticism of Congress for delays

PM Modi accused the Congress of delaying crucial initiatives. He pointed to the implementation of One Rank, One Pension (OROP) as a significant achievement of his government. "Congress is an expert in delaying work and usurping people's rights. They did not even allow our brave army soldiers to get One Rank, One Pension. One Rank, One Pension was implemented when Modi came," he asserted.

PM Modi accused the Congress of neglecting the Ghazipur region since independence. He recalled how local leader Gahmari Babu had tearfully highlighted the dire conditions in Ghazipur to Jawaharlal Nehru. He also expressed satisfaction with his government’s efforts to provide free ration to every poor person, contrasting it with the Congress's alleged indifference.

"The INDI alliance has betrayed Ghazipur. After independence, the Congress had vowed that it would not develop this area. The people here are forced to live a life of poverty. The problem here was first raised by our Gahmari Babu, he told Nehruji about the situation here in the Parliament and with tears in his eyes Gahmari Babu said how the people here used to eat wheat by picking it from the animal dung. But what did the Congress party do... they found political opportunities in that too. Today I am satisfied that our government is providing free ration to every poor person," the PM stated.

In Karakat, Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) leader Upendra Kushwaha is contesting as the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate. The Opposition mahagathbandhan has nominated Raja Ram Singh from the Communist Party of India-Marxist-Leninist (CPI-ML). In the Ghazipur Lok Sabha seat, the main competition is between Afzal Ansari of the Samajwadi Party and Paras Nath Rai of the BJP. Voting for these seats will occur in the 7th phase on June 1.
